Fresh Faces, Big Ambitions: Eschol Park FC Gears Up for 2025

The 2025 Wests Group Macarthur M-League season marks a new chapter for Eschol Park FC as the club embarks on a complete rebuild, laying the foundation for long-term success. With new coaching appointments, a fresh squad, and a renewed vision, the club is focused on development, culture, and competitive football. After a challenging period of inconsistency, Eschol Park has made key off-season changes to ensure stability and growth. While immediate results aren’t the primary focus, the club is committed to building a strong footballing identity, both on and off the field.

Eschol Park’s M-League evolution has been fuelled by the success of its junior teams, with the U16s and U15s winning premierships in 2024, including a FNSW Champion of Champions title. With a pipeline of young talent progressing into the senior ranks, the club is creating a pathway for sustained success. In recent years, player and coaching turnover has been a challenge, disrupting consistency and continuity. However, 2025 represents a turning point, with a clear strategy for fostering loyalty, development, and club culture. By mentoring and integrating homegrown talent, Eschol Park is shaping a unified vision for the future of its M-League program.

The Men’s squad has undergone a major transformation, with only a handful of players retained from last year. This rebuild has brought new energy and dynamism, as a talented new squad steps up to take the competition by storm. An extensive trial process has allowed the Wolves to recruit players eager to prove themselves, while the introduction of a revitalized coaching staff ensures that the team is built on a strong footballing philosophy and tactical discipline.

With a renewed sense of purpose, the squad has worked tirelessly through the summer, fine-tuning their style of play, fitness, and chemistry. The 2025 season is about establishing a competitive identity, focusing on long-term success rather than short-term results. Expect a team hungry to make an impact, bringing youthful enthusiasm, technical ability, and resilience to the M-League.

Saints March Back Into M-League

The Saints are back and ready to make their mark in the 2025 Wests Group Macarthur M-League season! After returning to the competition in 2024 with a Colts (U21) team, St Mary’s Eaglevale has expanded its presence, now competing in all four divisions—First Grade, Reserve Grade, Women’s, and Colts. This marks a new chapter for the club, reaffirming its commitment to developing talent and competing at the highest level in Macarthur football. The Saints have long been a powerhouse of local football, producing players who have gone on to compete at NPL, A-League, and even international levels, highlighting the club’s strong developmental pathways and footballing identity.

More than just a return, this season represents a statement of intent. With a strong mix of experience and emerging talent, the Saints are determined to re-establish themselves as a force in the competition. A high-intensity preseason, key signings, and a squad eager to represent the Green and Gold have built momentum and excitement heading into 2025. Expect passion, skill, and fierce competition as St Mary’s Eaglevale looks to make a serious impact on the M-League stage.

The First and Reserve Grade squads have been rebuilt from the ground up, bringing together a blend of youth and experience with a common goal—to compete at the highest level.

Many of the players have returned to the club where they first played their grassroots football, bringing with them experience from various levels of Macarthur football, including previous M-League campaigns. While youth is a dominant factor in this squad, the players aren’t short on experience, having played against some of the region’s best talent over the years.

Many players have progressed together from the Colts competition, bringing a natural chemistry and understanding that will be a major advantage as they transition into senior football.

Alongside this core group, the squad has welcomed key signings, strengthening its depth, skill level, and overall competitiveness. A high-intensity preseason has focused on building team chemistry, discipline, and an attacking style of play, setting the Saints up to be genuine contenders this season. With a squad full of talent, determination, and a hunger for success, St Mary’s Eaglevale is ready to make their presence felt in M-League.

St Mary’s Eaglevale has a long and proud history in women’s football, having been one of the clubs that helped pave the way for female footballers in the Macarthur region. The Saints have produced elite-level talent, including Matildas, international representatives, A-League players, and current NPL stars, all of whom started their journey in Green and Gold.

After years of rebuilding and focusing on female player development, the Saints have returned to Women’s M-League with one of the strongest squads they’ve ever assembled.

This year’s women’s team is filled with young talent, backed by multiple players with NPL experience. The squad has trained relentlessly during preseason, building fitness, tactical awareness, and a strong team bond. The goal is clear—finals football and making a serious statement in the 2025 season.

Expect a fast-paced, high-intensity brand of football, where the Saints press hard, move the ball quickly, and refuse to back down. This team is built to compete with the best, and they are determined to fight for a spot at the top.

MFA Teams Shine at Bathurst Cup Pre-Season Tournament

The Bathurst Cup pre-season tournament proved a fantastic opportunity for our Association Youth League (AYL) teams to test themselves against local, AYL and NPL competition, providing valuable preparation ahead of the FNSW AYL season kick-off next weekend. Our teams demonstrated impressive skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, making the Macarthur football community proud. Here’s a recap of their performances:

Under 13s Show Promise: Our Under 13s displayed great potential, narrowly missing out on finals qualification. Their resilience and teamwork were evident, culminating in a hard-fought draw against NPL club, Gungahlin United. This performance signals a bright future for the team and suggests they are building towards a successful 2025 season.

Under 14s Unbeaten Run: The Under 14s were a force to be reckoned with, going undefeated throughout the tournament. Despite their impressive record, they unfortunately missed out on the finals due to goal difference. Their quality was on full display, including a solid 0-0 draw against NPL powerhouse North West Sydney Spirit FC. The team’s strong showing bodes well for a dominant season ahead.

Under 15s Reach Grand Final: Our Under 15s enjoyed a stellar tournament, cruising through their group stage undefeated with a series of impressive wins. They continued their winning streak with a commanding 3-0 victory over a strong Lindfield FC in the semi-final. Their journey culminated in a grand final appearance against NPL club South Coast Flame. While they ultimately fell 4-0 in the final, their overall tournament performance was exceptional and highlights their potential for a fantastic 2025 season.

Under 16s Battle Hard: The Under 16s faced a mixed bag of results but showcased their fighting spirit with a notable win against North West Sydney Spirit FC. Despite their efforts, they finished just outside the qualifying positions for the semi-finals. The tournament provided valuable experience and insights that the team will undoubtedly use to improve throughout the upcoming season.

Under 18s Dominate but Unlucky: Our Under 18s were a dominant force in their group, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament. Their highlight was a convincing 2-1 victory over NPL club Spirit FC. Unfortunately, a washed-out game proved costly, as they narrowly missed out on semi-final qualification due to goal difference. Their strong performances, however, clearly demonstrate their ability and potential for the 2025 season.

A Proud Showing for Macarthur Football. Congratulations to all our AYL teams who participated in the Bathurst Cup! You represented the Macarthur football community with pride and professionalism, demonstrating the talent and dedication of our young players. We look forward to seeing your continued success in the upcoming FNSW AYL season.

Fillan Tjahjadi: A Journey of Growth and Passion in the ADP

At just 7 years old, Fillan Tjahjadi is already making waves on the football field. As a dedicated member of the Oran Park Rovers Miniroos U7 Yellow team, Fillan’s love for football is evident every time he steps onto the pitch, particularly in his preferred position as a striker. This young footballer’s journey took an exciting turn when he joined the Macarthur Football Association’s Association Development Program (ADP) at the beginning of the 2024 season. Since then, Fillan has not only honed his skills but has also experienced significant personal growth.

Igniting a Passion for the Game

Fillan’s interest in joining the ADP was sparked by his desire to learn the proper skills of football and to socialise with other players in a variety of environments. His enthusiasm for the sport, coupled with the opportunity to make new friends, made the ADP an ideal fit for him. According to his parents, Fillan’s excitement for football has only grown since he became a part of the program, with each session offering him a chance to develop both his skills and his passion for the game.

Developing Skills and Confidence

Since joining the ADP, Fillan has shown remarkable improvement in several areas of his game. His focus on the ball has sharpened, and he has become more adept at dribbling and navigating the ball during play. His parents have noticed a significant improvement in his kicking abilities, which have become particularly evident during weekend games. Fillan’s coaches have played a crucial role in this development, using a mix of discipline, repetition, and fun games to keep him engaged and motivated.

Fillan’s growth is not limited to technical skills. His confidence on the field has also soared. Where he once hesitated to get involved in the action, he now confidently dribbles and passes the ball to his teammates, carefully calculating his moves during games. This newfound confidence is a testament to the impact of regular training and the supportive environment fostered by the ADP.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing the Game

One of the challenges Fillan faced early on was a fear of the ball during games, often moving away from the action instead of engaging with it. However, regular training with the ADP helped him overcome this hesitation. Through consistent practice and the encouragement of his coaches, Fillan learned that it’s okay to go after the ball and even “steal” it from his opponents. This shift in mindset has not only improved his gameplay but also deepened his love for football.

Looking Ahead: Future Aspirations and Reflections

Fillan’s parents are incredibly grateful for the impact the ADP has had on their son’s development. Having immigrated to Australia when they were young, they appreciate how much more information and support is now available through programs like the ADP. The structured training, home training kits, and engaging games have kept Fillan excited and motivated, providing him with a strong foundation in football. His parents are confident that the program will continue to support his growth in the sport.

Looking to the future, Fillan has big dreams in football. While the 2024 season has come to an end, he is already looking forward to the possibility of summer training and the next season. His parents are proud of how far he has come and are excited to see where his football journey will take him next.

As his parents put it, “Training makes perfect,” and Fillan’s journey in the ADP is a shining example of how dedication, support, and a love for the game can lead to remarkable growth in young athletes.
