Our MFA Coaching Spotlight in 2026 continues with our next visit taking place with Picton Rangers FC! We visited two of their coaches, Tim Golding (U13 MYL Coach) and Amanda Copp (U13/3 Coach) who both show a true love for the game and strong dedication to growing the next generation of Rangers!
As local coaches, Tim and Amanda are helping to inspire their players and show a strong commitment to providing leadership and impact to their Under 13's teams respectively. Their stories continue to highlight the incredible dedication that lives at the heart of grassroots football across Macarthur.
Tim Golding – U13 MYL Coach
Tim has taken his U13 MYL team from strength to strength coming off the back of a positive 2025 season where the team got promoted, and still kept on winning games. Tim speaks highly of the support of all the players as well as the parents, providing a strong backing throughout the season.
What motivates Tim to coach is "seeing the player's enjoy the game, and each others company". With his son also playing in the team, it provides an extra incentive and joy to commit himself to the role and support all players in their footballing journeys. This translates into his focus on building mateship between teammates, and also showing good sportsmanship and respect to opposition players, coaches and to referees. With attitude and respect as key values driven into all players, Tim's Picton team are becoming not only better footballers, but also better people off the pitch.
In the 2026 season, Tim acknowledges the team is not going as well as he would have liked. However, the players are showing strong dedication in training and each week, are consistently improving their performances on matchday. The ultimate aim for the year being the win as many games as possible and finish in the Top 4. At the same time, as long as the players are enjoying themselves and developing as players, that is an equally as important focus of the team.
Within the season, Tim is making sure to check-in with all players individually at least three times throughout the season. The reason being to make sure that each player is working on the areas they want to work on, and also on the areas Tim feels they can improve upon. It is again this development-focused approach not only for the team, but for all individual players, that makes Tim such a valuable asset to the Picton Rangers coaching team.
Amanda Copp – U13/3’s Coach
In only her second year of coaching, Amanda shows amazing commitment to her coaching and this is definitely appreciated by all the parents, and players that she works with!
The motivation of Amanda to coach is seeing the boys really happy each time she works with them, and the positive energy that they all bring. Her biggest value being that there is a strong team spirit and that all players look after each other on and off the field.
This year, her team is sitting at 4th on the ladder and has been having a really positive year, only losing their second game of the season. The goal of the team being to make the end-of-season finals, but also that all players are enjoying themselves playing football, and with each others company each week.
Amanda also makes sure to have individual chats with players throughout the season, and look after all players within the team environment. Passing and teamwork have been the biggest focus of the season so far, and making sure the team stay fit with the longer halves of games this year. She also makes a point of rotating players around different positions to assist with their overall development as footballers.
Asked about her favourite experience working with the team so far, she spoke of when one of her players, Hudson, scored the winner for us and that the look of joy on his face was one she will never forget. As with many coaches, this experience is always the one which makes all the work that much more rewarding.
Together, Tim and Amanda represent the very best of Picton Rangers FC. Their passion, dedication, and genuine care for their players are what make grassroots football so special.
We’re proud to shine a spotlight on both of them in this series and extend our heartfelt thanks for all they do. It’s a privilege to support their coaching journey and watch their continued impact within the Macarthur football community.
