Gallagher Sommerville Success Story: From Macarthur TDP & Oran Park Rovers FC MYL to Camden Tigers BYL

From grassroots to a representative footballer, Gallagher has shown that the traits of hard work, dedication and most importantly consistency, can help progress into representing NPL Clubs like Camden Tigers FC. Growing up, Gallagher was a regular participant for a junior Soccer School, where he progressed through their development squads. Shortly after, Gallagher progressed into local football where he developed further as a player and learnt lots of new skills to bring to his game. With no surprise, he joined his programs elite squad.

Gallagher and his family had then moved to Oran Park. Gallagher joined the Oran Park Rovers U10 squad, where he participated in our MFA Development Leagues. Gallagher came up against a variety of skilled players including some that were stronger than him. However, to little surprise, Gallagher ran rings around his opponents and used all the skills he’d learnt through his development growing up.

In Term 3 2025, Gallagher was selected to participate in the Macarthur Talent Development Program (TDP), where he was able to play representative sides like Camden Tigers NPL and Macarthur Rams. With the help of the intense and structured training sessions our Macarthur TDP offers, he was able to grow and further develop his football ability. Gallagher enjoyed the exposure and the challenge that each game brought upon him. The games showed Gallagher the level that he was aiming towards and now, his hard work has been rewarded!

Gallagher has now accepted an offer from representative club, Camden Tigers FC NPL to play for their Boys Youth League (BYL) squad for the 2027 season. He looks forward to the higher level of football, the intensity and most importantly, the quality of each session and games will bring.

Gallagher enjoys travelling to each game, and that’s not only for his MYL games. Gallagher is quite the international supporter off the field. He supports Rangers FC that plays in the Scottish Premier League, as well as the English Premier League 2024-25 champions, Liverpool Football Club. Going further into his international support network, Gallagher looks up to the well-known player, Messi. With a global eye, we hope to see Gallagher participating in the English or Scottish Premier League and becoming a player at the top level.

Gallagher’s individual success reflects the vision that MFA has by providing clear and structured opportunities for each player that shares the same interests to progress throughout their football journey. Gallagher has been able to embrace the challenges that both his Oran Park MYL commitments, and our Macarthur TDP has brought upon him, and with his dedication, we are so pleased he has been recognised for this all of this hard work. We are sure he will continue to flourish and develop with his move into representative football for the 2027 season.
