Macarthur Football Association successfully delivered the first-ever MFA Futsal MSAP Gala Day, providing an important pre-season playing opportunity for clubs preparing for the 2026 MSAP season.
The inaugural event saw over 30 teams take part, with the majority made up of prospective MSAP teams, alongside teams from the MFA and Macarthur Rams JDL program, as well as a female team representing the Macarthur Quake Futsal Club.
Designed as a pre-season gala day, the event aimed to provide MSAP clubs with additional game-based development opportunities through futsal. The 5-a-side format, played on smaller courts, naturally increased player involvement and exposure to the ball, placing players in more frequent technical and decision-making situations throughout each match.
With reduced time and space, players were required to operate under higher pressure, supporting the development of close ball control, quick footwork and composure in tight areas. The fast-paced nature of the game, combined with constant transitions between attack and defence, also challenged players to react quickly and adapt, contributing to improvements in decision-making, agility and overall game awareness, key attributes that will support player and team development heading into the 2026 MSAP season.
The day was well supported by clubs, coaches and families, with a strong standard of participation and sportsmanship on display throughout. With four courts operating simultaneously, the venue was filled with energy and community spirit, creating an enjoyable environment for all involved in the lead-up to the Christmas period.
Macarthur Football Association would like to thank all clubs, players, coaches and officials for their involvement in the successful delivery of the inaugural MFA Futsal MSAP Gala Day.
