It’s been testing times for all involved in our game but Macarthur Football Association’s General Manager Salv Carmusciano has continually pushed forward with ensuring the safety and well-being of all its participants comes first thanks to the COVID-19 Safety plans implemented for the rebooted grassroots season.

Carmusciano and the Macarthur FA Board along with its clubs have been working overtime in getting the Community Football season off to a good start even with the challenges COVID-19 has presented the sport this season.

“We’ve maintained close to 10,000 players despite the disruption to the season.

“I think Football is providing a welcome distraction from what we are all experiencing at the moment.

“COVID-19 has certainly challenged us. It has certainly put a lot of extra pressure of our club volunteers. Each club has a COVID-19 Safety Plan and are doing their best to keep the community safe while enjoying their football. No one wants the season to come to a premature end.

“Our dedicated clubs are doing their best to implement their COVID-19 Safety Plans.

“Overall, the Football Family is respecting the situation we find ourselves and are generally trying to do the right thing by each other.”

Match Day experiences have certainly changed in 2020 thanks to COVID-19 with Carmusciano stating a number of processes have been put into effect to assure the football public that the Association was doing all that they can in providing the necessary checks on top of enjoying their football experience.

“Yes, match day experiences look so different to what they were twelve months ago.

“You will generally find the following actions conducted across our clubs and grounds on a weekly basis:

  • COVID safe posters displayed across grounds in multiple areas
  • Hand sanitizing stations
  • Disinfecting of balls at various intervals
  • Sign-in processes at entries
  • Temperature checks at entries
  • Safety Marshals patrolling grounds
  • Disinfecting of tables and chairs at various intervals
  • Safety markers at the canteen
  • Minimizing the number of people attending match days
  • Encouraging the use of masks
  • Cleaned toilets with hand wash and towels

“Right now, we just want to get through the rest of the season with a happy and healthy Football Community – Football has brought together a lot of happiness since its return and we are looking forward to many more good experiences during the course of the 2020 season.”
